Side Effects May Include Being Human

I liked this phrase the second I came up with it because that is basically what half of mental health paperwork feels like anyway.

Side effects may include overthinking, shutting down, feeling everything too hard, spacing out, being tired for no reason, getting irritated, needing a minute, needing three hours, changing your mind, crying, laughing at the wrong time, and generally being a person whose brain did not come with an instruction manual.

So I turned it into a bag.

The design has that full Label Lab clinical-file look with the research graphics, anatomy imagery, checkboxes, warning labels, toxic lime, aqua, and all the little details that make it look like somebody has been documenting the human condition for far too long.

Right across the front is SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE: BEING HUMAN.

Which is the part that matters.

Not everything about somebody needs to be fixed, explained, categorized, or turned into another symptom. Sometimes you are anxious. Sometimes you are overwhelmed. Sometimes your brain is doing whatever the hell it wants. And sometimes you are just having a normal human reaction to a very human situation.

The bag is roomy enough for an overnight trip, gym stuff, work supplies, whatever you drag around every day, or the emotional baggage that apparently still doesn’t qualify as a carry-on.

It measures 24" × 13" and has a white base with the full distressed Label Lab design across the outside.

This one fits The Label Lab because the whole collection is about the difference between what gets written down about a person and who that person actually is.

Complicated does not mean defective.

Emotional does not mean broken.

And being human is not a side effect that needs to be treated.
